Back in 2013, Christopher Jra Hall pitted our Chilligrow against a regular plant pot in a race to grow Jalapenos. It wasn’t long before the Chilligrow stormed to victory and produced an incredible harvest! Will you be setting your own Chilli growing challenge for 2015?

Yeyyyyyy our first chilli seedlings have started coming through this week. (Nicely tucked up in a vitopod propagator) Super excited and we found a very big box full of seeds so i think we are going to have a bit of a chilli jungle going on this year.

We're looking forward to pricking these out soon, but the fun part will be deciding where to pot them on to a chilligrow or a duogrow or even go for some Vivigrow action!!!

Our Gardening Angel Paul has been hard at work filling up the Vitopod Propagator with plenty of fantastic peppers and chillies in preparation for a bumper harvest in spring.

Here are the chilli and pepper seeds we have been sowing into our Vitopod Heated Propagator this week:

    Chillies Varieties

    Vezene Piperka
    [IMG]

    Cheiro Roxa

    Bolivian Rainbow

    Fresno Supreme

    Habenero the Monster

    Yellow Moruga

    Yellow Scorpion

    Habanero 7 Pot

    7 Pot Yellow

    Sweet Peppers

    F1 Jumbo

    Corno di toro rosso

    Corno di toro giallo

    Big Red

    Sowing Chilli Seeds

When sowing our seeds, we made sure to follow these steps to give our seeds with the best possible chance of germination:

    1. Fill up seed trays with multipurpose compost and create several small holes (around 1cm deep) with a dibber for your seeds.

    2. Individually placed a seed into each hole.

    3. Cover up your seedlings and use a tamper to flatten down the compost and remove any air pockets.

    4. Water your seedlings, then place them into your Vitopod Electric Propagator to germinate.

Seeds have the best possible chance of germinating if they are in contact with their surrounding compost, so it is always important to remove air pockets with a tamper.

    Pricking Out Chilli Seedlings

Once we had sown our chilli seeds, we were ready to prick out the chilli seeds sown on January 14th. Here is the process we followed to make sure our seedlings all survived this delicate process.

    1. Begin by filling several 9cm pots< with compost and creating small holes with a dibber.

    2. Use a dibber to loosen the compost surrounding seedlings, then carefully lift them out by their leaves.

3.Plant the seedlings into their new pots, water them and return them to their Heated Vitopod Propagator.

The stem and roots of these seedlings are very sensitive when being transplanted, so it is important to always lift out your seedlings by their leaves.

Here's a little update video as a treat from our Gardening Angels who have also been busy pricking out and potting on chilli seedlings from the first batch sown. Yey!!!!

Our second batch of chilli seeds were sown on the 3rd Feb and we've had some great results.
Here's a link to our latest update video. Looking forward to transplanting the chillies in to a Quadgrow (so we can share the harvests with the team  )
